Sape is on the main east-west tourist route and 4 km from the port (Labuhan Sape) for passengers to visit nearby Komodo island, famous for its dragons, the largest reptile.
The culture in this eastern region is different from elsewhere. The beaches to the north from Lamere to Matambolo are good for swimming, sunbathing and watching sun rise.
